What we collect
When you create an account we store your name and email address. If you buy a book, we store the order, the items in it, and — for physical copies — whether it's ready for collection. If you become an author, we additionally store your bio, photo, and payout details (M-Pesa number or bank account) so we can pay you.
Payout details are encrypted
An author's M-Pesa number and bank account number are encrypted before they are ever written to our database. They are only decrypted, server-side, at the moment an owner processes a withdrawal — and every time that happens, it is recorded in an internal audit log.
Payments
Payments are processed by Paystack. We never see or store your card or M-Pesa PIN — Paystack handles that directly and tells us only whether the payment succeeded.
Your rights
From Profile settings you can export a copy of your own data at any time, or delete your account. Deleting your account anonymises your profile — sales records and any author earnings tied to past orders are kept intact, since we're required to retain financial records, but your name, email, and payout details are permanently scrubbed and your login is disabled.
Who we share data with
Paystack (payments), and Supabase (our database and file storage host). We do not sell your data.
